SIBBC&S Online Programs are committed to a transparent and fair grading system that accurately reflects student performance and achievement in their academic endeavours. This policy outlines the grading scales, procedures, and standards used to evaluate student work.
SIBBC&S Online Programs utilize a standard grading system for the evaluation of academic performance in most courses. Under this system, a grade of 60 or above is deemed a passing grade, while any grade of 59 or below is classified as failing. Below is the classification system for letter grades used within our program:
A+ = 100-95
A = 94-90
B+ = 89-85
B = 84-80
C+ = 79-75
C = 74-70
D+ = 69-65
D = 64-60
F = 59-0
Grades are assigned by facilitators based on performance in coursework, including examinations, assignments, projects, participation, and other academic activities.
Each course provides you a grading criteria in its syllabus, detailing how each component of the course contributes to the final grade.
Students who received a failing grade in any course are encouraged to consult with the respective course facilitator for guidance on next steps. Depending on the individual circumstances, it may be necessary for the student to retake the course to fulfill the academic requirements.
Students who believe a grading error has occurred or that their grade reflects an unfair evaluation may appeal to the facilitator and if no resolution has been provided by the same, the appeal can be forwarded to the Academic Dean’s Office.
The grade appeal process must be initiated within a month timeframe after grades are finalized.
After grades are finalized, changes can only be made to correct clerical errors or in the case of a successful grade appeal.
Any change of grade must be approved by the facilitator, in some cases the Academic Dean.
Official transcripts will reflect all grades earned.
