SIBBC&S Online Programs are committed to ensuring that Online students maintain a regular online presence within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). This policy outlines the expectations for students regarding active participation in Canvas, and maintaining an online presence as essential components of their academic success.


  • Active participation in Canvas is required and it includes active engagement with course materials and activities.

  • Students should log into Canvas at least once every 48 hours to check for announcements, feedback from facilitators, and updates on coursework.

  • A strong online presence is crucial for success in online learning. Students must actively engage with peers through discussion forums and with facilitators through Canvas inbox.

  • Students are encouraged to maintain open communication with facilitators and peers, including promptly responding to emails and Canvas messages.

  • Students are responsible for monitoring their academic progress through Canvas, where they can access grades, feedback, and progress reports.

  • Concerns about academic progress should be addressed to the course facilitator or academic office as soon as possible.

  • Students must ensure they have reliable access to a computer and internet to fulfill their course requirements through Canvas.

  • Technical support is available for students experiencing difficulties with Canvas or online course materials. Students should seek assistance promptly to resolve technical issues.

  • Students are expected to adhere to the standards of academic integrity and respect in all online interactions within Canvas. This includes respecting the opinions of others, avoiding plagiarism, and maintaining a professional tone in communications.
